It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

This is not really a new gadget, but I just acquired this unit myself as I found a great deal on it at a local store. Plus I knew that the Omnifi was a good brand and worked well.

The Omnfi is for streaming music from your computer to your stereo via a wireless or wired network. Although the DMS1 does not do all the things that the newer streams do (like have digital outputs and graphic equalizers), the DMS1 seemed to be exactly what I needed and I did not really want to pay the extra $100s for a Slim Devices Squeezebox or similar.

Setup was easy and I decided to use an alternative to the included PC server software. People had said that TwonkyVision worked much better plus supports free internet music radio from shoutcast. So I installed TwonkyVision, hooked the DMS1 up to my stereo and wireless network, and I was ready to go!

It all works very well, and it is easy to find music by Album, Artist, and Genre. You also can hook the DMS1 up to your TV and it will show the Album Name, Track Position, etc. on your TV which is really nice for checking the track playing from across the room.

The only issue I have had so far is that if you turn the Omnifi off and then back on, sometimes I need to go and restart TwonkyVision on my computer, but besides that, all seems great. I am also impressed with the sound quality, even though it is not digital output, it still sounds great on my Audio System! Plus it looks nice with my audio system as well.

Although there are newer players out there now, I am happy with the price tag of only $79 (where I found it) for the Omnifi (when it first came out it retailed for around $250 without the Wifi Card!). I will not use it everyday, but for when I do use it it seems to be a great player!
