PDA/Mobile Threats Bigger in 2k6?

Well, I have always liked to keep on top of the issue of mobile virus/malicious threats, and it seems like that it is one that is inevitable considering the state that our world is in. More and more people are switching to more powerful mobile platforms that are more integrated with their life, this means that it also is becoming a bigger target for those wild ones out there that love to make viruses and spyware.

Since most PDAs/Smartphones are unprotected by software, they are seemingly an easy target. That leads many to want to buy software like McAfee’s mobile protection software. So far there are only 1 or 2 threats out there that have been contained fairly quickly, but it just shows how things can spread fast through our unprotected mobiles.

Now it seems that McAfee is saying that 2006 seems to be the year that we will see a great rise in mobile threats. They are recommending their mobile scan/protection software, but I think I will hold off until we see a bit more action in the mobile threat department. But this is something we should all continue to watch out for!
