AMD will now begin to designate certain computers "AMD 64 Live" if they meet certain basic requirements for multimedia functionality and incorporate an AMD processor. According to CNET News:
The company first began to apply the Live designation, which resembles the block stencil lettering found on musical equipment crates, on computer equipment sold to customers in the entertainment industry. The country music show "Austin City Limits," for instance, uses AMD Live PCs.
This is basically just a counter to Intel’s similar "Viiv" branding for PCs, although less stringent as AMD is not going to be putting the machines themselves through strict checks to determine whether or not it is "Live" ready, they will simply provide a list of criteria for manufacturers to follow, such as incorporating 7.1 sound.
