Does Imation have the key solution to printable media?

It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

So last year I purchased an Epson printer that came with a CD/DVD tray, thinking that it would be a great solution for media labeling.  While it works great, I have CDs and DVDs that I printed on months ago that still smudge if I pick the disc up incorrectly.

I experimented with various sprays, but never found anything that actually protects the ink.  Well, Imation seems to have the answer with their new AquaGuard surface.

AquaGuard surface is pretty much exactly what the name sounds like… a new type of surface for printable media that is water resistant and smudge resistant, also offering better image quality than other printable media.

The media is already available in Japan, and it has apparently lived up to Imation’s promises.  I’m definitely going to give these discs a try when they become available here in the US, as I’d love to be able to throw my printed discs in a CD folder on the go without getting that nice smeared result when I take it out.
