DVD PlayerA new ultra slim portable DVD player from Astar Electronics promises "all the features consumers are looking for and fits neatly into its custom travel case."

Apparently the big deal about this player is that it is DivX(R) certified.  "DivX(R) has become the new standard for digital video- dubbed the "MP3 of video" for its remarkable compression and widespread popularity. DivX(R) enables anyone, anywhere to create and enjoy DVD-quality digital video."

The new DVD player sports a seven inch screen with 1440 x 234 resolution and has built in speakers.  It comes with AC and DC power adapters, AV cables, earbuds, a remote control, a rechargeable battery and a travel bag.

Not too bad for only $149.00.  Normally I would advocate getting a laptop instead and play DVDs on that, but this player doesn’t sound like a bad deal.  This product should be available sometime in the first quarter of 2006.
