Developer/Vendor: Piel Frama
Price: $49 US
Rating (out of 5):

You’ve just purchased one of the nicest PocketPC phones on the market and you sure don’t want to scratch that baby up, right? A nice, high quality leather case is what you need. I have a few case companies I really love and Piel Frama is on that list, so is an honor to try out their new Palm Treo 700w case.

The case comes in a nice, sturdy box that makes a great box for keeping small widgets. As you take the case out you are greeting by the smell of leather and a nice soft black leather case. After taking the case out of the box, I realize just how small the Treo 700w compared to my Axims and iPaqs. The case seemed so small. Looking over the case, I noticed how detailed the stitching was first off. The handcrafting is what really impresses me.

Inside the box you get the case, a clip, and a clip removal system. The clip system that Piel Frama uses is one of the best around. The clips don’t come off unless you want it to and the ability to remove the clip is great. The clip removal kit has plugs that match the cases leather to insert into the threaded hole that was occupied by the clip post.

When the 700w is placed in the case, you have complete access to all the buttons and controls, including the bottom of the unit (below).

In the image above, you can see the fine hand stitching as well as the cutout for the connectors at the bottom.

As you can see on the rear of the case, there is a wire mesh grill for the rear speaker on the unit. Also, looking at this image, you will notice no cut out for the camera.

Since my photos are horrible, here are some that depict the colors available.

Conclusion
Piel Frama consistently makes superb cases, they are in the ranks with Sena and Vaja. This case does not disappoint either. Despite covering up the useless camera, you have control of all of the device while its protected. The high quality leather is stitched nicely and looks great. I would be proud to wear this case on my belt in any attire.

Pros:

  • Attractive
  • Superb Craftsmanship
  • Functionality

Cons:

  • Price
  • Lack of Camera Access
