Unwired Technology will soon be releasing wireless headphones with a new Application-Specific Integrated Circut (ASIC).
This new chip will allow them to use 80% fewer parts and by doing so, reduce the size and cost of the headphones.
"Unwired has put a great deal of time and engineering effort into the development of this ASIC chip, designed for our wireless headphones, and we are thrilled to present the consumer electronics industry with our first production units at this year’s show," said Unwired Technology President, Lawrence Richenstein. "The exciting new chip contains all of the essential workings of our wireless headphones, allowing us to greatly reduce the quantity of components needed for production. This, in turn, reduces the number of parts suppliers involved, leaving less margin for error, and affording us a much greater level of flexibility in future headphone designs."
