wsopchips.jpg I am a BIG FAN of Texas Hold’em, and I love to play as well, so this news could be a big thing for me!

Harrah’s License Company, LLC, an affiliate of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., (NYSE: HET), and Glu Mobile, a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, have formed a worldwide, multi-year alliance to create and publish World Series of Poker®-branded mobile content, including games, graphics, ringtones and other applications.

Although the details are sketchy in the press release, I am sure it will be only a "game" and not live online play. (which would totally rock!)

While on the subject of the WSOP, anyone want to sponsor me for the 2006 WSOP? I am a decent player. I finished 148/1799 one of the 2005 World Championship of Online Poker events. This is my biggest win in status, but I have won more money in a few top 10 finishes in other regular tournaments. I think my biggest winning was around $3000.00 for a 2nd place finish.

Harrah’s and Glu Mobile Team Up to Bring The World Series of Poker® to Mobile Devices

LAS VEGAS – January 9, 2006 – Harrah’s License Company, LLC, an affiliate of Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., (NYSE: HET), and Glu Mobile, a leading creator and global publisher of mobile entertainment, have formed a worldwide, multi-year alliance to create and publish World Series of Poker®-branded mobile content, including games, graphics, ringtones and other applications.

"This best-in-class alliance is a key component of our global distribution strategy for the World Series of Poker," said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker and vice president of sports and entertainment marketing, for Harrah’s. "Glu’s expertise and marketing savvy will introduce the World Series of Poker to new audiences around the world and create new ways for our current fans to experience our tournament."

"Harrah’s and the World Series of Poker are two of the biggest brands in the entertainment industry," said Jill Braff, general manager, the Americas, Glu Mobile. "The ever-increasing popularity of poker and the emerging consumer excitement of multiplayer mobile games combine to make this a timely and powerful alliance."

The Glu agreement follows announcements earlier this year of pacts between Harrah’s and America Online for free-play online games and Harrah’s and Activision for console games. As the mobile games publisher for the World Series of Poker, Glu will begin developing and publishing content in 2006.

The World Series of Poker, the world’s richest and most prestigious poker event, will take place next summer at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. During the 2005 World Series of Poker, more than $52 million in prize money was awarded in the Main Event alone, and every player who advanced to the final table won at least $1 million. The World Series of Poker is televised exclusively on ESPN.

Glu Mobile (formerly Sorrent, Inc. and Macrospace Ltd.) is a leading developer and global publisher of mobile entertainment. Glu’s portfolio of games, ringtones, wallpapers and information applications include both original titles and entertainment based on major brands including Atari, Cartoon Network, FOX Sports, PopCap Games, Twentieth Century Fox and Celador International.
