In a press release earlier today, Apple announced that their new MacBook Pro notebook will begin shipping this week. For those of you who haven’t been keeping up with the news, the MacBook Pro is Apple’s new Intel-based notebook. Until a year or so ago when rumors began coming out that Apple really was going to do this, "Intel" and "Mac" were two words that I never expected to see in the same sentence. Personally, I think this will be a great move for Apple in the long run, and I also expect to see the MacBook Pro really have impressive sales as it begins to ship.
In terms of hardware, this will be a nice laptop with it’s 1.83GHz (or 2.0GHz) Intel Core Duo processor, 15.4-inch widescreen display, 512MB (or 1GB) RAM, 80GB (or 100GB) hard disk, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 128MB (or 256MB) video adapter, DVD±R/CD-RW drive, and numerous other features. And of course it has that unique, stylish look that comes along with most Apple products.
While I haven’t been a fan of MacOS in the past, OS X Tiger really seems like a well-built and stable operating system. I’ve never owned a Mac myself, but I think even I might would give this little notebook a chance.
Press Release: Apple Computer, Inc.
