After 6 years of not owning or really even touching the Palm OS, I have a Treo 650 on the way. The last time I owned a Palm was the Palm III with a whopping 2mb ram and batteries I had to change more often than socks.

Why?
After testing out the Treo 700w, the 1st Palm Device to use Windows Mobile, I decided that the form factor was as good as all the Treo Fanatics were claiming. Yep, I picked up the 650 on numerous occasions and even made some calls, but never really held it long enough to get a good feel for it. Well, now that I have been tainted with the Palm hardware, I want to check out the software.

I doubt that it will become my daily device, but I am going to play around and familiarize myself with the OS that so many love. I have a feeling I will be going back to my Kjam until the 700w is released with GSM support.

The unit should be here in a couple days and I will keep a diary here of my adventures outside of my realm of Windows Mobile. I am so terrified of other platforms that I am shuffling review units to my other guys to review.

I have had a Treo 650 for several years and it is a super phone with one exception the hot sync. The palm desktop seems to very unstable and periodically one has to do a hard sync. I now have a Palm Treo Pro and it seems like a super phone and is hot synced with lintel sync or windows active sync.No Palm Desktop required
  • Well guys, I am not promising that I will carry it long, but I will give it a fair shake and report my opinions.
  • Nice to see your comment on the Treo's form factor. I've always been a Pocket PC / WM user, never any temptation to look at Palm until getting a 650 several months back - and I love it. Love being able to do so much with it one-handed. But I am also a big believer in carrying two devices - and the Axim X51V is the perfect companion for the Treo. Will be real interested to hear your take after using the 650 for a while.

    Chris,

I went from the hx4705 to the Treo 650. Not the best of everything, but certainly the best out there today. Good looking site.

I can't really add anything to this other than to say I'm laughing my @$$ off!
  • Thanks for the support. I love it!

Geez F Christ. Spare us the drama. There are enough WorM5-Dronzes-turn-Treo-Virgins blogging about Treo nowadays, I sincerely hope someone would sacrifice them all to the Great Satan, Bill.
