Actually, I used to talk just as bad about the grandmom who sued McDonald’s over the hot coffee. But if you ever actually read the facts of the case, you’ll rethink the whole thing. Poor woman wasn’t trying to fix her coffee in her lap, and didn’t sue for as much as was awarded – only for actual hospital bills – she received bad 3rd degree burns. The jury was outraged when they heard the whole story (and actually, so was I!), and over-awarded – which the judge reversed almost immediately, and the woman only received actual damages and a very reasonable punitive award, plus those ever-present legal fees. But in this case, McDonald’s really was pretty sucky about the whole thing.

Yet more proof that personal responsibility is dead in this country…I hope that Apple fights this every step of the way and that the lawyers cream the idiot on the stand (and anyone else stupid enough to join the class action).

you have GOT to be kidding?? I have to say, only in the US :) its people like this who give stupid people a bad name, wasting the courts/peoples time with pointness lawsuits, and all because they know the company in question will settle rather than mess around in court for weeks on end… so its a quick cash grab, and the only real cost is publicly proclaiming how big a tool you are :)
