KJam, Cingular 8125, & T-Mobile SDA Hard Rest

While boxing up the Cingular 8125 to send to a buddy to use, I was doing a hard reset so he wouldn’t get all my girlfriend’s phone numbers. While doing this hard reset, I remembered how much of a pain it is to accomplish. Since reading how to do it is not that fun, I whipped up a little graphic to illustrate the locations of the buttons you have to hold down. I hope someone can benefit from this post. Enjoy!

To perform a hard reset on a Cingular 8125, I-mate Kjam, T-mobile MDA, or other similiar device:

  1. Hold down the communications manager button (top left) and the Voice activation button (top right).
  2. While holding down those two buttons, use the stylus to hold in the reset button for a couple seconds.
  3. Release the stylus but not the other two buttons. After a couple seconds, a black screen when come up asking you to press send to continue.
  4. Release the communications manager button and the Voice activation button and press send (green phone button)
  5. That’s it!

OK, I got further than I did with Cingular's crappy directions. But it freezes when it brings up the "Press Send....." dialog. I press "Send" the green phone buttin and nothing happens. aaaarrrggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU so much for this advice. i had previously spent about one hour trying to reset my darn cingular 8125. in the manual they don't tell you anything about the letting go of stylus etc. etc. you just saved my life... lol

Thanks a million, after nearly 2 hours of trying a soft reset, (per the manuals lack of instructions!), I finally got it with your complete instructions. Thanks Again
  • Iggy
Thanks for the instructions....the manual does not mention these instructions!

Wouldnt it be handy if this was included in the manual. My manual only mentions steps 1 & 2.

    Thanks

If you think that's a pain to accomplish, try a hard reset on a treo 650! Thanks for the screen shot though, worked like a charm!
