Nokia N70 First Thoughts
This post was published 3 years 9 months 4 days ago.It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.
I have been invited into the Nokia Blogger program that you have heard so much about. The 1st phone Nokia has sent me for my thoughts on is the Nokia N70. Before I tell my initial thoughts after a couple hours of use, I want to run over a couple disclaimers.
- I am a Microsoft Mobile Device MVP and this is the 1st non Windows Mobile phone I am going to use for a long time so this is going to be interesting.
- Nokia is not allowing bloggers in this program to keep the hardware we get to check out. So the thoughts of these bloggers as well as myself are not tainted by freebies.
My first impression of this phone, prior to powering it up, was "wow" it looks nice. I took the unit out of the box and it also feels real solid. In comparison, I hold the iPAQ hw6515 in and even though its a solid device, but it feels plastic. I pick up the Treo 700w or the i-Mate Kjam and it feels like you have something in your hand that won’t break if you drop it. When I picked up the Nokia N70 and it feels SOLID. It’s not real heavy, but it feels well built.
I slid the back cover off and popped my Cingular SIMM card and the battery in and I was off. After some getting used to #1) Not having a touch screen and #2) figuring out the navigation, I was able to set up a ring tone and customize the display a bit. After messing around and getting familiar, I am not too big on the OS, but it works.
More comments as I put it through some real life testing. Read on for the specs of this phone.
