winamp_logo.gif Do you use WinAmp? Do you think your safe? Well you may not be.

Security Companies this week warned that an attack code to use a WinAmp playlist to load spyware on your machine has been being published all over the internet.

You may have not seen it, but you can be sure that some hackers have and will probably be using it soon, if that is they are not using it now.

Last week, Sunbelt Software said:

"After surfing to a malicious Web site on our test machines, the file ‘x.pls’ begins to download," Sunbelt’s Adam Thomas wrote in a posting on the anti-spyware software maker’s corporate blog. "Almost immediately, Winamp starts to execute the play list and remote code execution begins."

"Not following the recommendation from Nullsoft to upgrade to version 5.13 could result in the extremely nasty CWS Looking-For.Home Search Assistant infection as well as an installation of our good friend SpySheriff,"

The Problem seems to effect only 5.12, and WinAmp has released 5.13 which fixes the problem, so be sure to go and download 5.13 as soon as possible!
