It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

New from Garmin is the eTrex Venture Cx, a handheld GPS unit with a color screen that can be had for less than $250.  It is one of the least expensive GPS models sporting a color screen and also has expandable memory via a Micro SD card slot, and advanced auto-routing capabilities.  The 5.6 ounce unit is waterproof, runs on two AA batteries and comes with a built-in Americas basemap.

The eTrex Venture Cx is just another entry into Garmin’s impressive lineup of handheld GPS devices.  I had a basic Garmin eTrex that I tested out for a while and it was a joy to use.  I can only speculate that the addition of the color screen and expandable memory make this model that much more useful.  The form factor of the eTrex series is great, they fit easily in your hand and are not too bulky.

Garmin, if you are reading this, I would love to review one of these!
