I have been using the Best Buy Geeksquad thumb drive now for about 4 months, and I was originally skeptical about the U3 specs when I got it. But it was really cheap for the 512mb version, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I have been incredibly impressed. I love that the U3 specs will allow me to run applications COMPLETELY off of the microdrive and without leaving traces on the host computer! This includes AntiVirus (which comes standard WITH the Best Buy microdrive), Firefox Mozilla 1.5.0.x and a range of other applications too. I'm hoping to be able to load up Spybot on to my microdrive too, and I'll feel MUCH more comfortable with hauling this thing around.

Oh. The built in ThumbDrive Management Console, for lack of better description, is just very well done. To remove the drive, you have a MAX of two clicks, and U3 will take care of disconnecting the drive from Windows API layers (in the USB Management window) FOR you. You don't have to go do this any more. Not on THIS drive, anyway (nb: Unless the U3 app isn't loaded up, then you will.).

I agree that U3 is cool. You cannot argue with having your data and apps on one flash drive. I am currently porting our software to the u3 spec. I am about 3 weeks away from submitting PimZilla to the U3 reviewers.
