Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced
Warfighter
Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers and Best Buy, North America’s leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics, announced an online video game tournament for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter(TM) on the Xbox 360(TM) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. The tournament will be facilitated by the Global Gaming League and kicks off on the Xbox Live(R) online game service April 1 and continues through May 1. Entrants must have Xbox Live Gold to participate. The two teams that make it to the finals will battle for the grand prize of a Dodge Caliber at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) at the Los Angeles Convention Center on May 11.
"Best Buy makes sure gamers have everything they need to compete online," said Jill Hamburger, vice president of video games at Best Buy. "And this tournament has it all – phenomenal gameplay with Ghost Recon, live interaction with your opponent on Xbox Live Gold and great prizes. It’s going to be fun."
For the first three weeks of the competition, teams of two will compete against thousands of other teams as they eliminate each other for the top spot to compete in the deathmatch final. The two finalist teams will then travel to E3 and compete for the grand prize of an all-new 2007 Dodge Caliber, a sporty five-door compact car with a powerful stance that provides the functional flexibility of an SUV. The first-place winner will also receive $5,000 and the second-place winners will each receive cash prizes of $1,000. This is a great opportunity for you folks to have some fun and win some cash. Of course, it would be particularly neat if the winners were all from Mobilitysite. Get a partner and go get them.
"There is no doubt that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is the killer game for Xbox 360 and the online tournament is a great way to experience the game with thousands of other players in a heated competition," said Tony Key, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. "Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is going to blow up on Xbox Live."
Tournament registration began March 19 and ends March 31 on http://www.bestbuy.com/gamingtournaments. Visit the site for more information and official rules.
About Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter:
The face of war has changed. Enemy lines blur and there is no longer a clear opponent. New enemies and new threats require a new type of warfare – a new type of soldier. Enter the Ghosts. In 2013, the U.S. Army will implement the Integrated Warfighter System (IWS), evolving what we know as the modern soldier. IWS combines advanced weapon systems, satellite communication devices and enhanced survivability into one fully integrated combat system. The IWS program has been developed to meet these new threats head on. Now, it can be tested on the battlefield. Following an insurgence in the heart of Mexico City, the U.S. Army’s most elite Special Forces team is deployed to the center of the conflict to regain control of the city. Greatly outnumbered but fully equipped with the IWS, this elite team is the first and last line of defense on the battlefield. They are the "quiet" professionals. They are the Ghosts. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for Xbox 360 and the Xbox computer and entertainment system from Microsoft is now available in stores. The PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system version will ship in late March 2006 and the Windows(R) PC will be arriving in May 2006.
