Nokia N70 Wrap Up

closeThis post was published 3 years 7 months 18 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.

Some of you may remember that awhile back I was doing a day by day journal of my experiences with the new Nokia N70.

Well, its been a while, but I have not forgotten about the phone and I have still been using it over the last few weeks. There was not much more to add to the day posts, but I want to give a wrap up of my experience as a whole with this interesting phone.

I have been using the phone quite a bit and it seems like a very good phone, my biggest problem has been the price, I just do not see $500 in this phone. I have the Razr V3 that works just as good for calls (if not better for reception) that is half - a quarter of the price. Then I have my Dell X50v which is a true PDA. It is the same price, and lacks a phone, but it is much more powerful for the PDA functions and syncing to a PC. I feel that the Nokia N70 is a good mix of Phone, PDA, and Camera, but it lacks on the PDA side. This being said, if all you need is a simple calander/todo list, this is probably a good thing as it is easy to use and simple.

The camera and size sets this phone apart as no other phone I have seen has a camera that looks this good in a package this small. Design of the N70 is also very nice and it fits well in your hand and pocket. I felt good carrying this phone around with me.

The phone itself is reliable and works better than the T616 I have, plus the loudspeaker (speakerphone) is VERY clear and nice to talk on. It does not seem to have problems with dropping calls, reception, etc. It’s not as good as the Razr for reception in some very tought areas, but it is a very good phone at the top of phones for performance.

Overall my experience is that this is a reliable, good phone and camera with a nice style that is simplified by its OS (operating system). Some may like the simplicity of Symbian and actually buy the phone for exactly this reason, the PIM items are simple, but it is too simple for my taste at a price where it should be anything but.

Here is a recap of the Day Journals on the N70:

Day 1: First Impressions

Day 2: More thoughts

Day 3: Signal Strength Comparison

Day 4,5,6: Sound and Software

Day 7,8: Pictures and More Pictures
