After a long wait, sony has completed a release of a new firmware for its Play Station Portable gaming console yesterday at its official Japanese website. The most anticipated and instantly noticed addition to this firmware is the ability to playback flash content on websites. Browser was added to PSP at Firmware 2.0 but it did not support flash content, and eventually there was a homebrew software which emulated a flash player on PSP. The firmware update, whether through network or via memory stick, will be available tomorrow (April 25th, 2006) around 2pm local time.
This update is not intended for any users out side Japan, or thos who do not own Japanese version of PSP (PSP-1000 Series), and it is strongly recommended by Sony that owners of other PSP series do not use this update to upgrade their firmware to the new version.
Also another notable fix was that Sony addressed is 2GB + Memory Stick compatibilty, which was an issue for those lucky ones who owned 4GB Memory Stick Duo Pro sticks.
