This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. For the first time in the history of the World Cup football fans will be able to follow the World Cup on their phones through a rich graphical experience. After a free mobile download from the official FIFA World Cup site, users will be able to follow every match with real time play-by-play information, live commentary, up to the second scores, and football news. Something free? I can’t believe it but its true.
This download is branded Yahoo!’s Mobile MatchCast and is powered by Everypoint, a studio for mobile sports content getting a lot of buzz these days. A preview of the application is available from the official FIFA World Cup web site, www.fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/m . and the sneak peeks of the application can be found at www.everypoint.com/yahoo.
With an expected 6 billion page impressions for the Yahoo! FIFA World Cup mobile page alone, some believe the World Cup promises to be the greatest opportunity yet to convert the massive global Internet audience to the use of supporting mobile services and applications.
According to sources, the service will go live on May 28th with the latest team updates and regular news feeds from FIFA, whilst scores and live commentary will update throughout the tournament.
