Live TV on your PSP, using homebrew.

It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.

After Sony upgraded to firmware 2.5 back in November ‘05, a new feature was added, "Location Free Player Support" which let you view your media content over any internet connection, streaming from Location Free base at home or anywhere you set up your base.  Location Free required expensive hardware, but was easy to set up.

Yesterday, a homebrew author came up with a way to watch Live TV on your PSP using a few simple tools, by setting up a streaming server on your pc, and allowing PSP to retrieve that streaming content over wi-fi in your home, or over internet, if you allowed your home PC to act as media server. The first stage of the brew does not stream audio, but it seems like a good start. The server side of the brew is done by a software called Dscaler.

Read more for instructions on how to set it up, or download the archive to see more information. Although it seems to be for advanced users at this point, it should be fairly simple once the instructions are followed. If you are not sure what to do, search forums or the internet for more information before attempting to run this homebrew.

Instructions: (by Andy Fung)

1) Download DScaler 4 from
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/deinterlace/DScaler4115.exe

2) Install DScaler 4 and set it up. You can find help at
    http://www.dscaler.org

3) copy the special "DI_EvenOnly.dll" file from TVSP.RAR (what you just downloaded) and copy it into the DScaler 4 installation folder (default folder:  "C:\Program Files\DScaler4\"  ). It will overwrite
the original DL_EvenOnly.dll.

4) Run DScaler 4, and make sure to set menu BTCard->PixelWidth to 320. You have to do
this before the next step or it might crash or what not!

5) Select menu "Deinterlace" to "Even Scanlines Only". Now the Server DLL is running.

6) Edit TVSP.ini and put in the IP address of the computer you are running DScaler. (Your local IP address on your home network, normally on 192.168.1.### *your number*)

7) Run TVSP on the PSP and volia, you’re wirelessly watching TV. Enjoy.
