Apple Upgrades U2 iPod

This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. The iPod sets the industry standard for MP3 players. There is no question about that. The simplicity of use coupled with the quality of the product makes it that way. There are a few models to choose from, the iPod Shuffle, the iPod Nano, and the iPod Video. But Apple has also created some "special edition" iPods that focus on a more specific audience. (How well I know, I have a Harry Potter one myself). One of the first special editions was the U2 iPod. It was a break in tradation from the standard white ipod, in that it was black with a red click wheel. Apple has just announced a new, upgraded U2 iPod, one that takes advantage of the video capabilities of the 5th generation devices.

From The Apple Website:

The new iPod U2 Special Edition. As distinctive as the band it salutes. Red Click Wheel. Black metal back engraved with the band’s signatures. 30GB of storage with room for 7,500 songs, up to 25,000 photos, and up to 75 hours of video for $329.
Original of The Species
Like no other, iPod U2 Special Edition stands out. Jet black, it bears a prominent red Apple Click Wheel, a full-color display and, on the flip side, the autographs of each U2 band member on striking black metal. Thanks to this unique partnership between U2 and Apple, U2 fans can finally find what they’re looking for.
Even Better Than the Real Thing
The iPod U2 Special Edition also comes with an exclusive iTunes Music Store coupon you can redeem for a 30-minute video of music videos and band interviews. Think of it as your virtual backstage pass.
The improved model will has the same specifications as the iPod Video, and the box looks identical. What sets it apart from the standard 5th generation devices is that is it a black stainless steel case as opposed to the standard silver case. It also has 10gb more than the original U2 iPod, for a lower price ($329 vs. $349). Availability is through the normal Apple retail channels.
