T-mobile Sidekick Gets Makeover – Sort Of

My youngest daughter is a very techno-savvy person, as most young people are today. Her ability to text message on her cell phone astounds me, and the number of messages she sends and receives, well, all I can say it thank heaven for the unlimited text messaging option from our cell phone provider, T-mobile. Until recently, she used the cell phone that we provided her for all of her communications. But she saved her money and got one of the Sidekick II phones that are a T-mobile exclusive. She has just about worn out the keyboard on it. But just in time, T-mobile has delivered a new version of this device called the Sidekick III.

For those who may not be familiar with the Sidekick, it is a combination phone/instant messaging/web device that only T-Mobile markets. It is extremely simple to use, has a built-in camera, bluetooth functionality, and a QWERTY keyboard.

It has seen improvements with each new model. The newest one slims down the size of the unit, adds MP3 playback, and increases the camera resolution. It also adds a roller ball for a more precise positioning of the cursor. The new Sidekick III will be available on June 28th for current users, and July 10th for others. I have not had a chance to play with one yet, but there is an excellent review by Sascha Segan from PC Magazine that gives an insite to the the new Sidekick 3.
