Congratulations to the two lucky winners of iPod Nanos in the latest Mobility Site contest. They are lucky to be getting one of the hottest MP3 players on the market today. I also own an iPod, as I have mentioned before. It is a great device, but one area that I feel Apple has fallen down on is a quality owners manual, or even a good how-to book. Something that would explain some of the finer points of using the player, such as how the shuffle mode really works. It would be nice to have one in the box when you open it. But until that time, I have found one book that I would like to recommend to users, one that takes much of the mystery out of operating your iPod.

What makes this book so cool is that you can get it anytime of the day or night, from just about any computer in the world. The reason is that it is an ebook and can be downloaded after payment.  The author Steve Sande, PDA expert and long-time editor of The Gizmo Ranch.  He researched every non-musical use of the iPod, providing step-by-step instructions and real-world advice about how to use your iPod in a variety of ways such as backing up your hard drive, using is as a PDA, and even an alarm clock. This is a great resource for both beginning and advanced users. Who says an old dog doesn’t need to learn an occasional new trick.
