Seven years ago my wife and I bought the ultimate camera, a Canon Rebel 35mm camera. We were so excited to take pictures of our then newborn first child with this hot technology. It had autofocus, a great zoom lens, and it looked like a professional camera. To be sure, it was bulky and weighed a ton, but that’s how we knew it was a great camera. Slowly digital cameras entered the market. We laughed at their high prices and poor quality. Our camera was one third the price and took superior pictures.
Well, we’re not laughing anymore. Digital cameras have long ago become more convenient, high quality, inexpensive and far smaller than conventional cameras. In fact, the introduction of the Casio Exilim EX-Z70 illustrates this well. The resolution is an astounding 7.2 megapixels, it sports a large 2.5 inch LCD, a 3x optical zoom, has digital image stabilization, weighs a paltry 118 grams, and is 19.8 mm deep. All this at a wonderful price of $425.
