Toshiba Joins Next Gereration of DVD Technology

Yesterday I wrote about the new Sony laptops that featured the new generation of DVD player/recorders. Those folks at Toshiba must have been reading our site, because today they are talking about their new DVD technology on the Qosmio G35-AV650 laptop. Not for the price conscious consumer ($2900 and change), this unit does support the HD-DVD technology that is the other side of the ongoing Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD consumer war.

One problem with this laptop is that is HD-DVD read only, not record. It has a lot of good things going for it, but for that amount of money, I would want to burn discs as well as read them. You can read the full PC Magazine review here.
