I'm writing to let you know my experience with a drive adapter you mentioned at http://www.mobilitysite.com/2006/06/usb_20_universal_drive_adapter.php . I have tested FOUR of these adapter units and found a significant flaw. Specifically OSX users cannot format or partition hard drives using Apple Disk Utility when attached via this adapter. Disk Utility will fail to complete the operation. I've test this on both G4 Powerbooks and MacBook under OS 10.4.6 and 10.4.7. Several hard drives of both 2.5 to 3.5 inch were tried. One can read and write EXISTING partitions, but once an attempt is made to partition or erase a drive, that drive's partition table is never rebuilt. This renders the drive unusable until connected via a different bus adapter and repartitioned. I would not recommend this product.
