Reporting back on above: Partition Magic worked like a charm. Fast and easy. You wind up without the recovery drive though so you need to get the recovery disks from HP.

We called HP customer service and they would not acknowledge the issue at first, but eventually (when we got bumped up a couple of levels) they caved and said "yeah, there's a problem with the manufacturing drive image on that model."

But ultimately they were kind of asses when they made it seem like it was such a huge favor they were doing us by shipping out recovery disks for free.

I was just troubleshooting the new m7560n in our office and indeed, I assure you, it *is* true.

There's a 280MB "restore drive" sealed off from the user, and an 18GB C: drive with all the system files and apps on it. Holy Guacamole.

Let's see if our copy of Norton Partition Magic can fix this. I hope so 'cause we already installed a new power supply and an ATI X1900 XTX card. I'll report back.
