Microsoft’s iPod Killer…More Details
This post was published 3 years 4 months 8 days ago.It\'s is possible that the information within this article is now out of date or updated.
Like a leaky faucet the details are just pouring out. Apparantly noone in Redmond can keep a secret.
Are they all CIA rejects? Or perhaps they want the details leaked out so that prospective iPod buyers will wait for the holiday season to buy the product(s) that will turn out of "project Argo". Well, I have news for people who are waiting. Wait for version two point oh. Now, on with the info!
Project Argo is named in honor of the huge warship used by the Greek mythological hero named Jason. Jason assembled a cast of volunteers named the Argonauts, to help him bring the Golden Fleece to Colchis.
Microsoft is developing a multi-tiered project, I’ll call it a Hydra, or multi-headed Beast, since we’re on a Greek Mythology theme. This includes a complete line of Xbox branded digital media products, including a device that plays media, a software media player and an online media service.
Argo is being developed within the Xbox group and under the leadership of Xbox co-founder J Allard. That team of verterans also includes people who worked on MSN Music, an online music service that debuted in 2004 to much hype, only to quietly fade away. It’s time for me to insert a sarcastic comment here. Hmm…
Well, let’s see. It’s July and there are five five months until the holiday season. I predict this Hydra of products comes out six months late. They change their marketing campaign to, "Just in time for the summer, check out our new line of music players!" The music service will be delayed due to software glitches. The player will have problems and will need patches. Chris will start a new web site called Argo Site. The members will scream for version 2.0! I will still be using my second generation iPod. I will have a giant smirk on my face.
