B-Flex speakers by JLab Audio simply plug into your usb port and need no drivers. They’re tiny at 3.24 inches by 7 inches, and work with Mac, Linux and Windows. The flexible cable allows you to move the speakers into a comfortable position.

Jlab claims a fequency response range of 200 to 20,000 Hz with a signal-to-noise ratio greater than 80db. They go for $39.95 and should sound far better than any built-in laptop speakers.
