This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.A report prepared by Screen Digest is suggesting that the war between HD DVD and the the Blu-ray standard has already been won and lost. Neither of the two standards will win it will be a draw, costly but still a draw.
The report does go on to acknowledges that there are still 3 other possible outcomes
- HD DVD wins.
- Blu-ray wins.
- both formats lose.
"The success of DVD was due to a single format that offered better quality and greater convenience than the VHS format that it replaced. This time both formats support similar features. Blu-ray discs offer capacities of up to 50 GB compared with HD DVD’s 30 GB. But Blu-ray is a revolutionary format that is more difficult and expensive to produce than HD DVD discs, which can be produced using modified DVD equipment."
With players appearing on the scene that will be able to play both types of media it seems that it may be safe to take the plunge..
