New Service Allows Residents to Stay Connected in Neighborhood Common Areas.

BellSouth today announced that it has entered into a non-exclusive agreement with Wavelength Corporation to jointly market and deploy Wavelength Surfspot Wi-Fi hotspot service to planned community developments in BellSouth’s service area. The Surfspot service will be offered in both single-family and multifamily housing developments, complementing BellSouth’s current voice, video and data portfolio.

Under the sales teaming agreement, BellSouth, together with Wavelength, will offer voice, data, Wi-Fi hotspot and video programming packages specifically designed for planned communities. Joint proposals and coordinated deployment of services will provide developers and homeowners associations with a full menu of premium residential technology services that will result in increased mobility and cost savings to residents.

"BellSouth’s comprehensive portfolio of voice, data and video products, combined with the convenience of Wi-Fi access in common areas of the community will create a seamless technology experience for residents," said Phil Jacobs, president – Community Technologies, BellSouth. "Premium technology capabilities are quickly becoming a differentiating amenity in residential developments and BellSouth provides a simplified package of solutions."

BellSouth and Wavelength anticipate demands from both single-family and multifamily housing developers to establish Wi-Fi connectivity in community clubhouses, swimming pools, tennis courts, playground and recreation areas.

"The teaming arrangement creates a powerful package of services and utilizes the expertise of BellSouth’s voice, video and data offering and Wavelength’s leadership in mobile Internet access solutions," said Eric Teague, CEO, Wavelength
