Nokia Wibree to Replace Bluetooth

Wibree is a short-range wireless technology that works with or replaces Bluetooth, as it’s ten times more energy efficient. It could work with gadgets such as the Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Watch that only needs to communicate once in a long while. Bluetooth would drain the battery far faster. Wibree would greatly increase the battery life. Is this just another proprietary standard doomed to failure? Or is this low-powered version of bluetooth just what the doctor ordered to allow small, low power devices such as watches and tiny mp3 players to thrive? Nokia is a huge company and when it gets behind something, it does so for a reason. I think they’re onto something.
