A few days ago I commented about the Celio Redfly adding support for BlackBerrys. I came across that bit of information first while researching to purchase a Celio RedFly myself and then while I’ve been …

Slingbox, what’s taken me so long?

Well, to put it bluntly, Why do I need Slingbox? That’s the question, but I now have the answer.

When Sling Media stormed onto the scene, I looked at the technology and said, “Great, Another idea that I cannot take advantage of…”. That’s because I live in a poor Cell Market where we get the hand me down technologies. I liked the idea of Slingbox, but didn’t think it was worthwhile to stream Sports Center over a GPRS Data connection. Well, nothing has really changed with the slow technology, but I did decide to give it a try. What do you know, Sport Center streams just fine with GPRS, no perfect, but good enough.

Good news is that EDGE and EV-DO are slipping into our market and now I am ready. What I am excited about is going out of town and streaming my Direct TV connection anywhere!

Anyhow, I got the new Sling Box AV a couple weeks ago and I have been happy as can be. The installation couldn’t have been simplier. From the time I opened the package to watching TV with Sling Player on my laptop over WiFi, 10 minutes! The hardest part is waiting for software installation, and how hard is that?

Are you Slinging?
