AT&T mergers give company power to help us save money

With the merger between SBC and AT&T last year and the merger with Bellsouth this year, AT&T owns more of its operating netword and has more service bundled under one roof than before. Many consumers see this as a bad idea. I don’t think it is though. Sure, your AT&T bill will go up, but not without adding more services. Now you can get you phone line, home data, celluar, and even Direct TV services under one roof. That means savings for you. The more you bundle, the more you save. A press release yesterday offers more proof of this….
Company Delivers No-Cost or Low-Cost 3G Handsets to Customers Buying Wireless Broadband and AT&T High Speed Internet Services Together in Cingular Stores
San Antonio, Texas, January 22, 2007
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new offer intended to heat up demand for 3G wireless broadband service and further demonstrate the benefits of bundling AT&T wireline and wireless services together.
Customers will receive up to $200 in mail-in rebates when they purchase select 3G wireless handsets at one of the company’s wireless stores, sign up for wireless service from AT&T and select either AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Pro or Elite service, or FastAccess Ultra or Xtreme 6.0 DSL service (AT&T DSL).
The AT&T 3G network offers advanced wireless services, such as viewing video clips of news, weather, sports, entertainment and more, listening to music, allows for simultaneous use of voice and data, and enhances existing wireless services by enabling them to run faster. Customers can now download a game or ringtone, browse the Internet or connect to business applications in a fraction of the time it used to take.
The AT&T 3G mobile broadband network extends to most areas from San Francisco to New York and from Chicago to Dallas, making advanced wireless services available in more than 160 markets, including most of the top 100 major cities in the country.
"We’re following through on our commitment to deliver new values and benefits to customers from our merger with BellSouth Corp. and consolidating ownership of Cingular Wireless," said Rick Welday, chief marketing officer-AT&T Consumer. "Our compelling new offer makes it even easier for customers to enjoy virtually anytime, anywhere access to communications and entertainment services."
Three sleek state-of-the-art 3G devices are eligible for the offer:
- Samsung SYNC, available for free after $100.00 mail-in AT&T rebate. Requires a two-year wireless agreement on a voice plan of $39.99 or greater and qualifying high speed Internet service.
- LG CU500, available for free after $150 in mail-in AT&T rebates. Requires a two-year wireless agreement on a voice plan of $39.99 or greater and qualifying high speed Internet service.
- Samsung BlackJack, available for $99.99 after $200 in mail-in AT&T rebates. Requires a two-year wireless agreement with a wireless agreement on a voice plan of $39.99 or greater and qualifying high speed Internet service.
The free or low-cost 3G phone offers are available to new and existing AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Pro or Elite customers or FastAccess Ultra or Xtreme 6.0 DSL subscribers who visit a Cingular company-owned store or select dealer location and who commit to a two-year wireless agreement. AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet service is available for purchase in more than 1,500 Cingular retail outlets in the pre-merger 13-state AT&T local footprint.
