It’s been on the ropes for some time now, so perhaps it’s not surprising that the Taiwanese BENQ has filed for insolvency, A couple of years ago they bought Siemens mobile arm which was making some interesting Symbian based devices at the time. Since then the interesting devices and a bucket load of money  have both disappeared and after failing to find new investors it looks like they are throwing in the towel.

Under German law, a company has three months’ grace after filing for bankruptcy before formal insolvency proceedings begin. So it’s not all over yet. More details are expected from the administrators tomorrow.
