Las Vegas NV – January 2007 – Audiovox Corporation (NASDAQ: VOXX) today announced its entrée into the GPS portable navigation market with three new portable systems all under the Jensen brand. "These new products mark our entrance into the exciting GPS and personal navigation market. They all offer cutting-edge technology and two of the systems combine GPS navigation with XM capability…in one product," said Tom Malone, Senior VP Sales.
The NVXM1000 features a built in slot for the XM Mini-Tuner and the NVX406 will take a plug in dock for the Mini-Tuner.
"Rock-n-Road"-use logo. Tops the Company’s GPS line up. A full featured NAV system with a powerful 8GB hard-drive memory delivers full U.S. and Canada mapping plus over 11 million Points of Interest on a 4-inch color touch screen. "You get turn-by-turn voice prompts in 12 languages, powered by a built-in rechargeable Li-Poly battery. There is also an optional rear-view camera to check blind spots as you back out of a driveway or in a parking lot and an FM modulator allows for use of the vehicle’s speakers for instructions or programming," said Malone.
In addition the unit is XM Mini Tuner ready with its built-in slot, designed to accept the Mini- Tuner with no additional wiring. Simply pop in the optional XM Mini-Tuner and "Rock-n-Road" switches from a GPS system to a full XM system with all 170 XM channels plus XM Real-Time Traffic broadcasts that provide updated information on road conditions for optimum driving. The same Mini-Tuner that brings XM to this portable NAV system also can bring it to your home and all for one subscription fee. MSRP for the NVXM1000 is: $999.99. Note: XM Mini Tuner sold separately. Real-Time Traffic through XM and available only in cities where XM broadcasts reports. Requires XM subscription and requires living in a city that has a traffic station.
The NVX406 has a 4GB hard drive that stores MP3 and video files (MPEG4), comes with full U.S. and Canada mapping on an easy-to-see 3.5-inch touch screen with turn-by turn prompts. It is XM capable and requires an optional XM Mini-Tuner and docking station for XM radio programming. FM modulation allows the user to listen to XM radio and navigation instructions through the vehicle’s speakers. Enhanced PDA features include calendar, address book, memo pad and calculator. MSRP: $599.99.
The NVX227 features the same POI, and turn-by-turn prompts as the NVX406 with a 1GB flash memory and an SD card slot to accommodate even more memory and mapping and is WAAS*-compatible. Includes rechargeable Li-Polymer battery, car adapter and USB cable (battery recharges through the USB or car adapter). MSRP: $349.99. (*WAAS – Wide Area Augmentation System is an extremely accurate navigation system developed for civil aviation by the FAA in conjunction with the United States Department of Transportation.
