iPod Shuffle Finally Covered

When Apple released the 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle (1gb), I was astounded at the size, how small it was. Two things popped into my mind. One how cool it was, and two, given it’s size and design, there couldn’t be much of an after market for options for it. I was wrong on the second item. There have been several accessories showing up for it, most notably covers to protect it. Several are shown here.

Above is a set that is available from PC Microstore. There are several colors available, and they are semi-transparent silicone material.

Here is picture of BoxWave Corporation’s covers:

These are also a silicone based, semi-transparent case as well.

Finally, here is an entry from the Apple website, so I guess you could say it has Apple’s blessing. These are made by Rhinoskin, a company with a fine reputation for quality cases and accessories. It is a brushed aluminum slip on case.

Most of these covers are available from a variety of dealers and resellers, both online and in stores. Costs range from a couple of dollars to upwards to $20. It is nice to see that there are some options for protecting one’s investment in a quality MP3 player, and it is nice to see that some after market accessories are becoming available for an item that I thought would have none.
