My iPhone Thoughts and some real video
This post was published 2 years 9 months 24 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.I was unaware that anyone besides “Apple” had actually seen the iPhone in the flesh, other than the glass case crap they pulled at Mac World. I made a post a few minutes ago in the forums in this thread saying I would reserve judgement until I saw it in “real” action. I got a pretty fast PM with a link to this video.
Well, this looks quite a bit better than a photo of a dormant device in a glass case…
Anyhow, I think the video shows this device (and I call it a device since I can’t see how it will end up being the iPhone) has some super innovative ideas. Some are cool, some look useless, and some look hard to get used to. Maybe we will have to get used to them if this is the future. I have a couple reservations from the beginning though. Battery Life? I am hearing what they are claiming, but how? How in the hell are you gonna get 5 hours of battery using this as a phone? The thing is super thin with a 3.5″ screen that has fancy sensors and a vibrant color, tell me where this juice is going to come from? Next up, Keyboard. A software keyboard will do I guess, but there are lots that are screaming for keyboards these days. What about 3G, why not? There are some rumors floating about this, but nothing official. I hope it is geared purely at non-business consumers, with no 3rd party app support and no exchange server support, this is useless in business. I want to sync outlook with iTunes, yep. I sure do.
Last but not least, the biggest problem facing the iPhone to me is, well… Apple. Such a greedy, overbearing company. They infringe on Cisco’s trademark with one hand, then with the other hand, they jump all over folks for stupid stuff like emulating the “Look” of this phone. Give me a break, I am not too sure they have a leg stand on with their demands to Paul O’brien of Modaco, asking him to remove LINKS to another website. Apple sure gives me a warm fuzzy. In case you hadn’t heard anything about that… There are some skin hacks that allow you to make your Windows Mobile Phone/PDA or Palm device look like the GUI of the iPhone.
