Doug Goldring reviews the Socket Communication WiFi Companion Software. Wi-Fi Companion provides users with a friendly, easy-to-use interface to manage WLAN connectivity. The main page icons provide single tap access to browse the web or check email, find WLANs in range, install security certificates, view IP addresses or modify profiles.

The built-in WLAN Manager is difficult to use, particularly when things do not work as planned. Wi-Fi Companion operates in an intuitive manner, placing the controls in the place where most users would expect them. Sometimes, various options are available from multiple locations, representing the fact that different people will access information from different places or in a variety of ways. Additionally, unlike Dell’s built-in WLAN Utility, all of the information in Wi-Fi Companion is displayed graphically whenever possible, making it easy to use and troubleshoot your network connection…even for people who are not familiar with wireless networking.
