Samsung offers latest stylish smartphones with Symbian & Windows OS

Barcelona , February 12th, 2007 - Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a leading provider of mobile phones and telecom systems, today showcased, two standout smartphones, the SGH-i520 and SGH-i600, as part of its impressive lineup at 3GSM World Congress. Both phones are early examples of Samsung’s forthcoming smartphone lineup, which will accentuate a harmonic blend of technology and artistry. This inspirational range of smartphones will be available throughout Europe in 2007, offering the convenience of a slim, yet powerful phone with ease of use ensured by its advanced messaging capabilities.

The new Symbian & Windows OS smartphones blend a plethora of functions with a slim, trendy design to ensure users have a phone to be proud of. Samsung’s i520 and i600 handsets are set to prove that even the most functionally advanced handsets can impress consumers across Europe . The i600 has already enjoyed particular success in the European market.

Samsung SGH-i520
The sleek and stylish Samsung i520 smartphone is a super-slim slider handset, measuring just 17.9mm and weighing in at a mere 99g, guaranteed to bring a new degree of efficiency to your connected world. The new smartphone i520 uses Symbian OS Version 9.2 (S60 3 rd Edition Feature Package spec 1) to access the internet and download content up to five times faster than competing models, while also supporting 1.8Mbps HSDPA technology and featuring a sophisticated touch-sensitive key pad for convenient use and attractive design.

The i520 is designed to make all users’ online life as convenient and enjoyable as possible. It supports a 2 megapixel camera and a 2.3” wide screen to show the entire internet page, similar to a regular PC view. Meanwhile, the Bluetooth ® 2.0 EDR provides high-speed data transmission, while the phone is based on the Vodafone customized UI (TPP VCP), adapted from the Symbian/S60 operating system. Measuring only 11.8mm and weighing a mere 105g, the Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 is the world’s thinnest 3G smart phone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It blends the feature-rich, desktop functionality of the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform with extensive multimedia capabilities to help people work on the go, stay in touch with family and friends or just have fun.

The Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 supports the HSDPA network for faster data transfer speeds, as well as seamless communications through high-speed connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 EDR. It is also the first smart phone to support web applications such as podcasting and RSS Rea der.

A key feature of the continuing success of the Ultra Messaging i600 is its QWERTY keyboard with wheel key, perfectly designed for composing messages or e-mails. In addition to this, the customi z ed thumbwheel makes navigation simpler than ever.

The i600 is already available in several European countries and the i520 will be introduced in the second quarter of this year.
