Well here is a possible solution that you can use to give you that “touchy feely feeling”.  The folks at The Red Ferret Journal caught this item today and I liked it … well, sorta!

I’m not quite sure just how good it works but it certainly has potential….

Touchscreen Overlays/Add-ons for PC Monitors and Notebooks

Touchscreen add-ons are an easy and affordable way to add touch screen interaction to an existing display. The touch add-ons that we offer will allow users to operate their PC by touching the display screen. Great for home, school, office use, and more. They are also a good solution for prototyping or demonstrating touchscreen applications.

  • Mounts externally for easy installation
  • Works with all mouse-driven software using software driver mouse emulation
  • Works alone or with keyboard and mouse
  • Works with finger, gloved hand, or pen stylus
  • Allows you to perform the following mouse functions: Left-Click, Double-Click, Drag-and-Drop, and Right-Click

The touchscreen add-ons are available with two interface types:

  • Serial/COM Port Interface: Works with Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / XP and Redhat 9.0
  • USB Port Interface: Works with Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / XP, Redhat 9.0, and optionally Macintosh OS 9.x – 10.3.1

The touchscreen add-ons are available in several sizes to fit a variety of computer displays. The touchscreen should be atleast as large as the display area of your monitor. The touchscreen can be larger than the display screen and still work, but it will not work properly if it is smaller than the display screen.
