The rollout is starting: albeit early ….

Well there is good news (we think) that is appearing on the horizon with the Apple iPhone.  In some footage shot at West Texas A&M,  AT&T’s Stan Sigman gifts an iPhone to WTAMU president Dr. J. Patrick O’Brien with what appears to be the “first iPhone in Texas”.  There is a video here at The Unofficial Apple Weblog that shows the commencement exercises and you can hear the gifting (athough it is rough on inteligibility).

The next piece of good news is apparantly Steve Jobs is considering opening up the iPhone to 3rd party applications.  In a story posted here at The Unofficial Apple Weblog,  Steve Jobs has indicated that Apple is wrestling with the decision, according to Tech.co.uk.

So we can see that the first first “regulation” iPhone has been given out by AT&T which means (to me at least) that the rollout is fast approaching and more importantly, it appears as if Jobs might well be thinking seriously about opening up the platform to 3rd party developers.  From the beginning, we have said that without out 3rd party developers in the “mix” to create applications for people to “personalize” their device to fit their needs, the device would not succeed in the “business” market … it looks like that might change and if it does this just might be a “cool toy” we all might want to try.

Click the links above … you will find them interesting.
