htc_touch

Those are the words from the folks at Engadget Mobile!

They were able to grab a Touch device and got to play around with it for a while.  So did they like it?  You bet they did!

We love the way this thing feels, it?s easily the slickest, most caressable keyboard-free device HTC has produced to date. In fact, it’s not only keyboard free, the thing is practically devoid of any buttons – you get a volume rocker, d-pad, call / end, camera, and power.

And YES, Windows Mobile is still “under the hood”. Thank God!

Thank God it has Windows Mobile under the hood?

I know your an MVP but geez, try to show some objectivity!

Uh, oh....no dedicated OK and windows buttons......I smell Smartskey....

HTC can build all the tech they want, the fact of the matter is that WM phones, especially Professional ones, need to have menu and Ok keys...it is a necessity.

Sorry, I don't get why this is a big deal. From what I can see we're still getting WM with a new interface tacked on to certain parts of it. I just don't think WM6 is designed properly for this new type of tech. It like putting a silk dress on a pig. Did you see the hands have to touch the little "x" to close an app? How about the contacts, sure scrolling is nice but you would have to touch the small letter bar to change the displayed contacts

I commend HTC for including some new Sbp-like shell interface changes, but I don't think it's enough.

The iPhone was designed from the ground up with touch in mind....totally different ballgame. This is where I think Apple saw an opportunity and jumped on it. They could build their interface from scratch. Windows Mobile still is not specifically tailored toward phone use. In essence, it's the same as the Pocket PC OS that was introduced in 2001.

Touch tech aside and "semi-new" interface aside...I would call this pretty boring.
