Dolphin 7850 designed for retail, warehousing and distribution center applications

image Hand Held Products announced its newest Dolphin Mobile Computer, the Dolphin 7850. Purpose- built for scan-intensive environments, the 7850 is ideal for retail and warehousing applications, including inventory and price management, shipping and receiving, order picking, and cross docking.

The 7850 is designed for comfort and ease-of-use, with an integrated pistol-grip handle and large upward-angled color display for easy viewing while scanning and entering data. This lessens the need for users to continually bend their wrists during use.

With advanced Shift-PLUS Power Management, the 7850 powers scan- intensive RF applications continuously for 10 hours or longer, delivering uninterrupted data processing and enhanced worker productivity. Adaptus Imaging Technology 5.0 enables fast, omni-directional scanning of all barcodes, plus digital image capture and device configuration capabilities. The 7850 is built to industrial-grade specifications that include an IP64 rating, 5-foot drop specification, and testing to withstand more than 2,000 1- meter tumbles. The 7850’s industrial components mitigate the forced obsolescence typical with products based on consumer-grade technologies.

The 7850 is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 with an Intel PXA270 520 MHz processor. An integrated Wi-Fi certified 802.11b/g radio delivers real-time network access to mission-critical information and supports advanced wireless security standards, including WPA and WPA2 Enterprise. The 7850 is also pending Cisco CCX v4 certification, and will support several of the technology’s advanced security and operational services.

“The Windows Mobile platform equips developers with the necessary tools for creating rich mobile computing applications tailored to individual enterprise’s needs,” said John Dietz, Group Product Manager, Microsoft Corp. “We are excited that Hand Held Products is incorporating Microsoft technology into an easy-to-use device that allows workers to collect specific data, keeping them productive while on the move.”
