With U.S. retail dollar volume for notebook PCs growing by 30 percent in 2006, Microsoft Hardware is making it easier for new and existing laptop users to get more done on the road with two new wireless notebook mice — the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and the Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000. Designed to make notebook computing more productive and reduce touchpad fatigue, these mice provide superior wireless technology and sleek, compact designs to keep users working on the go.

Microsoft Corp. makes the Bluetooth experience easier with the introduction of the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000, designed to work seamlessly with Bluetooth ready computers. More than 54 percent of all notebooks shipping worldwide in 2008 are expected to be Bluetooth enabled, and this mouse delivers on the experience that consumers have long desired — a mouse that just works, with no transceiver or extensive setup process needed. The Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 will keep users on task with its High Definition Laser Technology for smoother tracking, more responsiveness and better precision. The mouse also provides users with the following:

  • Ultimate Bluetooth convenience. The mouse has 2.4GHz Bluetooth technology without a transceiver for quick and easy wireless connectivity.
  • Modern design features. The mouse offers more than a sleek design; this ambidextrous mouse is comfortable for either hand and comes with a convenient carrying case.
  • Smart power features. It has a battery life indicator right on the mouse, an On/Off button and three-plus months of battery life.

The Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 provides a confident wireless connection with the latest in comfort and design. The shape of the Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 is based on the No. 1 best-selling mouse, the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000, and the device also features the following:

  • Advanced notebook mouse technology. The mouse houses top-of-the-line technology with 2.4GHz wireless for a confident connection and virtually no interference — a great benefit in crowded wireless environments. It also features High Definition Laser Technology for smoother, more precise, and more responsive tracking.
  • Smart software connection. One click of the wheel provides instant access to the Windows Vista(R) Flip 3D feature, letting users flip through open windows and quickly switch between applications for added productivity.
  • Innovative power features. The snap-in transceiver on the bottom of the mouse is more than smart storage — it turns the mouse off when snapped in. The mouse also features a battery life indicator and provides up to six months of use with one battery.
  • Comfortable design. Soft-grip sides and an ergonomic, ambidextrous design put comfort in the palm of users’ hands.
  • Magnifier tool and Back button. Users can perform popular commands with a single touch.

Pricing and Availability

The Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 7000 will be widely available in September 2007 and the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 in October 2007 — each for an estimated retail price of $49.95. These mice are available now for pre-sale on Amazon.com and will ship in September and October, respectively, when they are widely released.
