image Gameloft, publisher and developer of video games for mobile phones, and Firefly Mobile, the first pay as you go service provider and designer of phones for kids and tweens, today jointly announced a partnership to distribute Gameloft’s top selling mobile games for the new flyPhone.

The flyPhone is the first phone created exclusively for tweens, and will launch in October 2007. The games that will be available at launch are: Shrek the Third, Dogz, Bubble Bash, Pirates Adventure, Rayman Kart, Meteos, Horse Riding Academy and Naval Battle.

The flyPhone was designed from the ground up with tweens in mind and is fully loaded with an MP3 player, video player, camera, mobile games and texting. Select Gameloft games can be downloaded via Firefly’s flyKicks software which comes with the phone and connects tweens to the flyStore, Firefly’s virtual store featuring age appropriate materials for the tween crowd. There, users can purchase games for download onto their flyPhone.

“Gameloft was a natural choice for us since we wanted to launch the flyPhone with gaming content that offered quality plus excitement,” said Firefly Mobile CEO, Patrick Marry. “It is becoming increasingly important for our tween demographic to have mobile content that is innovative, unique and is a reflection of their identity. Gameloft is the perfect partner to do that.”

The flyPhone has a MSRP of $124.99 and comes with flyKicks software, USB cable, instruction manual and stereo hands-free headset. Additionally, the flyPhone phone book holds up to 500 parent approved numbers (inbound and outbound). Minutes can be bought in bundles via Firefly Mobile or at retail through minute cards at rates as low as 10 cents a minute, offering parents an easy way to control costs. Best of all, there is never a contract to sign. The flyPhone is available at major retailers in the U.S. including Toys R Us, J&R Music World, BarnesandNoble.com, WalMart.com and selected Target stores.
