Thanks! I got it to work too. One thing that bothered me with the bloat-load was that I could not customize the start manu to add communications manager. Without the bloat, it is a setting that can be added.

Without the bloat, communication manager is also on the Today screen by default, and the 7 picture icons that used to appear at the top of the today screen now show up at bottom. I missed having them!

NEVERMIND I GOT IT!! ive tried this like 10 times and it didnt work when the box popped up that counts down from 3 seconds to 0. you have to do it before that box pops up as soon as it says setup is complete you tap the screen and you see your main screen soft reset your device and the bloat is gone :-)

Will this process work on the new ATT 6.1 that comes out tomorrow (hopefully)?

I plan to ActiveSync before flashing the new ROM and then re-add the CABs i want.

Will the new ROM even have all of this bloatware or will it be gone on this new one.

And I've found the more you have on the TILT, the slower it gets. If I can get rid of 17MB and leave that space free, thats a noticeable amount of speed based on something I never wanted to begin with.

Are we sure about this process not messing anything up?

For me, it's not really the physical size as much as the principle. For example: if I decide I don't want to buy Tiger Woods PGA Tour or TeleNav to have on my phone, I should be able to get rid of it without having a permanent ad for it stuck on my file manager. It's not the fact that it's bloatware that ticked me off; it's the UNREMOVABLE bloatware that isn't right.

I followed the instructions and now my mobile 6 is different. It will not open zip files like the one for the 6 tab htc homeplug. My GF has the same tilt. We got them exactly at the same time. Her Mobile 6 seems to be the same as what mine was before I got rid of the bloat. Can you tell me what the difference is?

To PeeVee: about your question of connectivity, I did just that, and it's working just fine. As an added plus I can dump the att connect software on my laptop (if I wanted this sort of stuff taking up space, I would have stayed with VZ) because the internet sharing option is on the device when you abort the bloatware.

Connecting clean and fast. No problems yet, but I'll post if I discover any. I'll be playing around all weekend making sure everything is OK on the scrubbed device. The gain of 17megs seems like it's all upside right now. 17megs. Remember when palm had a whopping 512K?

Pronto, you're right in that it does only clear up storage memory, it largely is popular for ridding all of the at&t links that most don't like.

PeeVee I only suggest a backup because you may want to put the "Bloat" back on. The cabs are available to load seperately if you like, but backing up before you do anything is always a good idea regardless.

If I follow your process, why am I backing up the device first. Wouldn't restoring the backup re-add the bloatware. If I just removed the bloat without restoring from backup, would I have any problems with connectivity wity AT&T's MediaNet or any other PDA functions?
