I am pondering which US Carrier is leading the way in the Windows Mobile Handset Game.

Last year, I would have to go with Verizon. Verizon rocked the world back at CES 2006 when they unveiled the 1st Palm/Windows Mobile Offering. The Treo 700w was a big step for Palm to offer their superb form factor with the Windows Mobile 5. It was great, but had some flaws. We aren’t concerned with the flaws at this point.

Leaving out the iPhone, which could propel AT&T into the top slot without a vote, let’s take a look at Windows Mobile Devices on the Big 4 US Carriers.

AT&T
Cingular 3125, Pantech Duo, Samsung BlackJack, Palm Treo 750, AT&T 8525, AT&T Tilt, and the Cingular 8125. With a LG Windows Mobile phone and the BlackJack II and Motorola Q looming, this is clearly a superstar lineup of Windows Mobile Device choices.

Verizon
Verizon Wireless PN-820 Smartphone, Motorola Q, Motorola MOTO Q9m, Verizon Wireless XV6700, Samsung SCH-i760, Palm Treo 700wx Smartphone,

T-Mobile
T-Mobile Dash, T-Mobile Wing, and the T-Mobile Shadow.

Sprint
MOTOROLA Q, Palm Treo 700wx,  HTC Mogul, and Samsung IP-830W.

Verdict:
AT&T. I listed the carriers and their devices in order of my choice as Windows Mobile King of the Block. T-Mobile edges out Sprint with only 3 models because the killer exclusive Dash.

AT&T is killing the others knocking out a new WM device each week it seems. Not really, but they are pumping them out.

As a side opinion, here is my top 5 phones from all 4 carriers.

  1. AT&T Tilt
  2. HTC Mogul (Sprint and Qwest Networks currently)
  3. Palm Treo 750
  4. BlackJack
  5. T-Mobile Dash/Motorola Q (Tie)

  • Nice post Chris, I'm looking for a new hand held that runs windows mobile and was curious about this.

Its definitely AT&T. They have the newest phones with the best capabilities out way before the others. Personally I think VZW has really sux for most of this year. They are very slow in coming out with their Mogul variation. The Centro is far away from them. Their offerings is just plain dismal
