hey, the ipods screen has a sharper image even though its smaller but what would you rather look at? a bigger screen or better picture? what would be the use of the huge screen without the sharp resolution? what would be the use of alot of resolution with a small screen? you know what why dont we just try one in the middle and look for another mp3 not just apple or not just microsoft, but why dont we stop arguing, be patient, and keep looking… why would you waste your money on something you dont even like? Keep doing your reserch and try to figure out which is the best mp3 not just between apple of microsoft, but from all the mp3s out there so we can make the wisest choice. anyways, we got nothing to lose… in fact we gain by waiting for the perfect mp3 to pass by… so dont go around buying an ipod just because everyone has one… or dont go around buying a zune just because you want to be different… imagine you barely bought your cool new ipod just because a stupid website said it was the best, and 2 months later, they launched a better version of your precious new ipod… yes that would truly suck… thats why you gotta make the right choices in something you really want not something that is ”allright”, because you might regret it. so keep doing reserch and find the best moment to strike. after all, we got nothing to lose.

The Zune 2 totally kicks the ipod 80GB butt. It has a bigger screen, can sync without connecting it to the pc, has WiFi, and has a squircle to boot! Overall the Zune 2 kills the ipod 80GB. The only drawback is that the zune 2 has less battery life by 10 hours…buuuuut it charges faster than the ipod does.

The zune 80g is 10 times better. It has a bigger screen and landscape mode. Also, if your someone who listens to alot of music, which you should if you spend around 300 dollars on an mp3, the zune blows all the ipods out of the water. The ipod touch doesn’t even have a decent home dock or car dock. The Zune marketplace allows you to download full cd’s at a time, which almost all of them are FREE. And i have had my 30G zune since it came out, and ive never had a problem with it. Bitch.

One quick thing I did think your post was good. I’m not here to knock it just give it a different perspective. The pricing between the zune and touch is about $50.00. Not that my opinon matters but were talking $250.00 for the zune and heck if I were going to drop that kind of $$ I would take a hard look at the touch and everything else apple or not. Because thats not chump change, little bit more and you can purchase a new PC or a Mac. Again good post..

The average consumer will not segregate products so swiftly they will look at apples line up, as well as other manufactures and the zune will have to stand out and compete with apple and other mp3 players in all areas. Also, unlike the XBox MS does not have a Halo app up there sleaves to save the Zune. If MS properly implemented WiFi in 06 they would of leap frog apple and all other MP3 players. Thus everyone else would have been playing catchup in ‘07. Instead they were extremely short sighted in there implementation of WiFi. Now they have implemented a feature only after apple has incorporated it into iTouch. I understand the pun of apples vs. oranges, and actually i thought that was funny but the zune will be compared to other fruit thats the realites of the open market. And going back to the Xbox the difference between Sony (playstation 1) and Apple is that apple is not resting on past success. I believe this is do to getting beat up durring the OS wars in the 80’s. Instead MS is dealing with an apple that its fighting for its life. Also, recall the XBox like the zune is loosing them money (btw I own an Xbox and I am happy that they entered the gaming market because they forced sony to innovate). The similarities between the Xbox & zune is that MS wants to be in expanding markets not because of survival. There capital not there innovation allows them to stay in the game (gaming / mp3 market). I personally don’t care about either company, neither should anyone else because there objective is to convince you to spend your hard earned $$. Personally I believe at the end both products are more or less the same as long as both companies compete fairly and force product innovation then we all win regardless if your a zune or ipod fanatic. When there is no compeitition, such as in operating systems, then we are forced to stick to Windows and wait for MS to give us something new.

Zune 80g gen 2 vs. iPod Touch = Apples vs. Oranges

I am comparing 2 equally priced products that will be in direct competition. sure the Touch is nice, but has far less storage and costs more.

A really nice post! The full use of WiFi in this release is a real plus and I don’t know but if all changes in software in the zune and pc works how they should, the iPod has found a real competition in the zune.

Whats interesting is that your post does not compare it to the ipod touch…when the ipod touch is thrown into the mix then the equation really gets a bit more interesting. What zune doesn’t have for it is product diversity. When people take a look at the ipod line they have a lot larger selection. The problem with the zune and MS is that apple changed the equation – the zune is not competing with just one type of ipod (ipod classic) but the entire ipod family. In all honesty the only minus for the iPod touch is the storage capabilities but when it comes to capabilities the ipod touch blows the zune out of the water. DRM less – we’ll see but I doubt the music industry is key on that I’m sure there is allot of unpublished caveats.

i think that 80gb with the bigger screen alone makes the zune win. The wireless syncing and fact that it doesn’t look like a fat chubby child are super++ bonuses.
